Location checks
You can only wager on STX while you are physically in Ontario. STX uses GeoComply, a location service used across regulated betting in Canada, to confirm your location when you place a wager.
On your phone
Allow the STX app to use your location. On iOS go to Settings > STX > Location; on Android, Settings > Apps > STX > Permissions > Location. Choose While using the app and turn on Precise location.
On the web
The first time you wager in a browser, you may be asked to install GeoComply’s location app on your computer. Install it, keep it running, and try again.
My location check failed
- “You are not in a permitted area.” Your device’s location data shows you outside Ontario. Make sure you are in Ontario, then try again. Near the provincial border, the check can fail even when you are just inside Ontario; moving further inside usually fixes it.
- “Your device appears to be using a proxy service.” Turn off any VPN or proxy, including VPNs built into antivirus software and private relay features, then try again. Do not use a VPN to get around location checks.
- Rooted or jailbroken device. For security, STX cannot be used on a device that has been rooted or jailbroken. Use a different device.
- “Unknown geo location error.” Refresh the page or restart the app and try again.
If you are in Ontario and the check still fails, contact us and tell us your city, the device and browser you are using, and the error message you see.
